One UI 9 could bring more transparency effects to Samsung devices

Samsung recently released the beta version of the One UI 9.0 update, based on Android 17, for the Galaxy S26 series. It isn’t as significant an update as One UI 8.5, but it could bring additional improvements to the UI design by adding transparency effects to more parts of the software.

We’ve noticed that an upcoming, unreleased version of the Samsung Browser (version 30.0.2.45) app introduces a semi-transparent background effect to the status bar and toolbar. With this effect, you can see content flowing beneath those bars at the top and bottom of the screen, making the UI appear sleeker than before.

This effect isn’t present even in the latest publicly available beta version (30.0.0.63) of the Samsung Browser app. It is likely that Samsung is testing the feature internally before releasing it in a future One UI 9.0 update. Samsung is also reportedly testing Predictive Back animations in its web browser and could introduce them in a future release.

Google recently added background blur and transparency effects across the UI in the latest Android 17 beta release, and Samsung appears to be planning similar visual enhancements for future versions of One UI 9.0.
