Many films remain stuck in pre-production for years before finally going on the floor.

The delay can stem from various reasons: script revisions, finding the right cast, or aligning the actors’ dates.

This is what happened with Farhan Akhtar’s 2009 film Luck By Chance. The film was written seven years before its release. And, the director was Zoya Akhtar.

While the film was produced by Farhan Akhtar, he was searching for an actor for seven years.

Finally, after years of searching, Farhan decided to make the film and play the lead role of Vikram Jaisingh.

Farhan told Midday, “For seven years, Ritesh (Sidhwani) and I were trying to cast that film with Zoya. I don’t know, her stars were not aligned there.

He added, “Like every time she thought it was going to start, the rug would get pulled out from under her feet. To a point, she`d almost pretty much given up on that script.”

Farhan said, “Actors were looking for different things to do. So when Rock On!! Got made, I just told Zoya, ‘Listen, please let`s make that film’.”

Notably, Luck By Chance marks the directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar’s sister, Zoya Akhtar.

However, the film was a flop at the box office. It was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 18 crore, while it earned only Rs 16.83 crore in India.

At the 55th Filmfare Awards, the film received several nominations, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Zoya won Best Debut Director.

Alongside Farhan, the film starred Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor, and others.
