Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman is set to reprise her role in the upcoming sequel, Practical Magic 2, alongside Sandra Bullock. This highly anticipated film will hit theaters on September 11, 2026, nearly thirty years after the first installment was released.

In a recent interview with Variety, Kidman shared her excitement for returning to the beloved franchise. One of her primary motivations for doing the sequel was the opportunity to collaborate with Bullock again. She expressed her deep admiration for Bullock, stating, “I love Sandy. I love her. And we’re so different.” Kidman highlighted their chemistry and complementary working styles, which she finds enriching.

A Commitment to Female Representation

As a producer of Practical Magic 2, Kidman made a significant change by ensuring that the film is directed by a female. She believes in the importance of providing opportunities for female directors and writers. “It’s so good to have found a purpose in terms of that work,” she said. Kidman aims to influence cultural shifts in the film industry by supporting women’s roles behind the camera.

An Exciting Cast and Crew

The film will be helmed by Academy Award-winning director Susanne Bier. The screenplay is being crafted by Akiva Goldsman and Georgie Pritchett, based on Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel, The Book of Magic. Joining Kidman and Bullock in the cast are:

Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing will also return to reprise their roles as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny, respectively. The collaboration among an experienced cast and crew promises to deliver a captivating sequel that resonates with fans of the original film.
