Newcastle told price tags of two exciting wonderkids amid 2026 transfer push

Ross Wilson admits that scouts are already hard at work ahead of two crucial windows in 2026

Alex Toth of Hungary

Newcastle United have been strongly linked with Hungarian wonderkid Alex Toth with the youngster grabbing the attention of scouts across Europe.

The 20-year-old already has nine senior caps with Hungary and is also attracting interest from Juventus but Newcastle have been alerted to his presence too. The central midfielder can play as a No 6 or a No 8 and has 51 first-team appearances for Ferencváros, notably shining in Europa League matches.

Toth fits the profile that Newcastle are looking for younger squad members who can challenge for places in Eddie Howe’s starting line-up. Toth could cost as little as £15m but is contracted until 2027 meaning the Hungarian side have a slight degree of control on his asking price.

Toth has been compared to Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai who Newcastle also liked in the summer of 2023 but he opted to sign for the Reds. A new contract has been spoken about for Toth behind the scenes at the team nicknamed Fradi in Hungary, but with his agent aware of interest, a big move to Europe’s brighter lights seems likely.

Is Chelsea star interesting Newcastle?

Axel Disasi is a star that Newcastle have run the rule over before, and with potential summer exits for Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar, a move can’t be dismissed.

At 27, he is creeping towards the senior bracket that United chiefs have advised against in recent windows. But by the same token, losing Lascelles and Schar would reduce the experience levels in the defensive rearguard significantly.

An asking price of £25m would be required for the ex-Aston Villa loanee who has not played under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea this season. Having been frozen out he has been restricted to two reserve appearances.

He has a contract until 2029 and is also on West Ham’s radar according to sources at Stamford Bridge.

Brazilian recruitment drive underway

Newcastle’s new sporting director Ross Wilson wants the Magpies to have their finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to Brazilian talent.

United have swooped to appoint Thomas Federspiel as the club’s new scouting supremo after a stint at Nottingham Forest. The 60-year-old specialises in scouting across Brazil and will no doubt be aware of Allan Elias of Palmeiras.

The 21-year-old was already on Newcastle’s radar but has a release clause of £87m according to reports in his home country. It is expected that Federspiel is ready to freshen up reports on the exciting talent.
