Nawazuddin Siddiqui: Kapil Sharma recalls an important career advice from Nawazuddin Siddiqui; says, ‘Great actors find ways to break the bubble’

Kapil Sharma, who is loved and known for his time on The Great Indian Kapil Show, is making headlines as he is set to welcome Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia on his show. He recently appeared on Aamir Khan’s podcast on YouTube, where he spoke about his journey, the challenges he faced growing up, and more. While talking to Aamir Khan, he said, “Travelling, observing, meeting all kinds of people that was your real training ground. Trains, cities like Delhi, Jalandhar, Amritsar, every face, every conversation quietly settled into your subconscious. Later, when you had to perform, you didn’t ‘create’ characters from scratch; you remembered them. That policeman you once met, that bus conductor, those little behaviors they all came back and shaped your acting.

He later recalled an important piece of career advice that he received from actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He said, “Once work starts coming regularly, life becomes structured set, home, office, repeat. You unknowingly enter a bubble. The randomness disappears, and that’s where the real challenge begins, because acting feeds on life, not routine. What Nawazuddin Siddiqui said is very real. Earlier, preparation wasn’t forced; it was happening naturally because you were constantly exposed to life. Now, even though you know practice is important, it requires conscious effort and often gets neglected. While further talking to Aamir Khan about how actors shape their craft, he said, “Great actors find ways to break that bubble. They deliberately step out, observe people, have conversations, travel without purpose, sit in public spaces, watch life unfold. Because technique can only take you so far; truth comes from lived experience. The moment you stop observing life, your performances slowly start losing that organic depth. The craft doesn’t just need practice, it needs constant nourishment from real life.”
