Tech company Motorola today, April 22, launched a new smartphone, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, in India as part of its premium ‘Edge Series’. This is the third model in this series; previously, the company had introduced the Edge 70 and Edge 70 Fusion.
Motorola’s new phone is the first smartphone in India to come with MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 8500 Extreme processor. The phone features a 50-megapixel selfie camera and a 6500mAh battery.
The Motorola Edge 70 Pro has been introduced in two variants. Its starting price is ₹38,999. The phone’s sale will begin on April 29. The phone will be available in Pantone Tea, Pantone Lily White, and Pantone Titan colors.

Design and build quality: Military-grade durability and slim body
Motorola has worked extensively on the design and durability of this phone.
- Material and durability: This phone is MIL-STD 810H military-grade certified, which means it is capable of withstanding drops and shocks. For display protection, it features a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
- Dimensions: Despite having a heavy battery, this phone is quite slim. Its thickness is just 6.99mm, which gives it a very premium and lightweight feel when held in hand.
- Back panel and colors: The back panel features an attractive texture along with a triple camera setup. This phone will be available in three color options – PANTONE Tea, PANTONE Lily White, and PANTONE Titan.
- Protection score: The device has received a double rating of IP68 and IP69 to protect it from water and dust. This means it can remain safe even in deep water.
- Display: A 6.8-inch curved screen is provided on the front, which features very thin bezels. A punch-hole cutout is given in the top center for the selfie camera.

Specifications
Display: 144Hz Refresh Rate and High Brightness The phone features a 6.8-inch 1.5K Extreme AMOLED curved display. It supports a 144Hz refresh rate. For gaming and outdoor visibility, it offers a peak brightness of 5200nits. The screen has a ‘Water Touch’ feature, allowing the phone to be operated even with wet hands.

Camera: For selfies, there’s also a 50MP sensor. For photography, its rear panel features three cameras:
- Primary: 50-megapixel Sony LYT710 sensor (f/1.8 aperture).
- Ultra-wide: 50-megapixel lens (122 field of view), which can also take macro shots.
- Sensor: Dedicated 3-in-1 light sensor.
- Selfie: A 50-megapixel camera is provided on the front, which supports high-quality video calling and selfies.

Performance: The country’s first Dimensity 8500 Extreme processor, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, is the first phone to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset. It is an 8-core processor built on 4nm fabrication, with a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz. To reduce heating during gaming, the phone features a 4600mm vapor chamber cooling system. This phone runs on Android 16.
Battery and Charging: 29 hours of video playback. It comes with a large 6500mAh battery. The company claims it provides 29 hours of video playback time. To quickly charge the battery, a 90W TurboPower fast charger is included in the box.
Connectivity and other features include support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 in the phone. Stereo speakers are provided for audio. The company has promised 3 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates with it.
