MG Starlight 560 Launch Confirmed?
JSW might be in the newspapers for its upcoming venture as an automobile manufacturer, but it remains active with its ongoing partnership with MG. MG is expected to bring the Wuling Starligh 560 (sold in China) to India as the potential replacement for the Hector. And now the Starlight seems closer than ever.
Our sources suggest that the Starlight could be launched within the next 2 months. Earlier rumours had suggested that the launch was set for Diwali, but MG seems to have preponed it. But does this upcoming MG 7-seater SUV have what it takes to defeat the XUV7XO?

What’s Special?
The Starlight sports a rather conservative look and lacks the XUV7XO’s dominant stance. But this look will be appreciated by those seeking an understated design language. It looks closer to an MPV than an SUV, thanks to its long 2.8m wheelbase. It has a longer wheelbase and length than the XUV7XO. The interiors are quite roomy thanks to such dimensions.
We expect it to get features like –
- Level-2 ADAS
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated and powered front seats
- Fully digital instrument cluster
- 360-degree camera
- 12.8-inch infotainment screen
- Wireless Charging

MG Starlight – Powertrain
MG is expected to bring it to India in two avatars – PHEV and EV. The PHEV is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre engine mated to a 20.5kWh battery pack. The result of this powertrain is 197 bhp & 230 Nm and a claimed 1,100 km range. On the other hand, the EV will likely get a 56.7 kWh battery pack that produces 136 bhp & 200 Nm. The EV’s effective range is around 500km. You can charge it up from 30% to 80% in less than 30 minutes using a fast charger.
