As things stand, Chelsea go into Saturday’s FA Cup final without any of their five permanent managers in place, and Martin Keown believes two of those five were wrongly sacked by BlueCo.
It has been a dismal season for those of a Chelsea persuasion. Just one point from their last seven Premier League games leaves their chances of European qualification almost over, in terms of league position.
It’s good news for Chelsea, but is it enough? 🏆
Calum McFarlane’s latest injury update.
Saturday’s FA Cup final against Man City gives Calum McFarlane’s side a chance of silverware, but perhaps more importantly from a financial point of view, qualification for the Europa League come next season.
Liam Rosenior was the latest of Chelsea’s five permanent managers under BlueCo to receive the axe, just four years into the owners’ stewardship. Now, Xabi Alonso remains the favourite to become the sixth.
Martin Keown sympathy for Thomas Tuchel and Enzo Maresca
Speaking on TNT Sports ahead of Saturday’s heavyweight clash between Chelsea and City, Martin Keown was asked what the problems are at Chelsea and why things have gone downhill so drastically of late.
The former England and Arsenal defender pointed towards the owners and the managerial conveyor belt, claiming that actually he felt both Thomas Tuchel and Enzo Maresca were wrongly sacked at Chelsea.

“They’re looking now for their seventh or eighth manager. BlueCo have spent £1.5bn, the team seems to be in total disarray. I thought Thomas Tuchel was actually a very good manager at the beginning.
“They got rid of him. Perhaps, too much interference from the owners. Maresca seemed to have enough of it, and they’re paying that price now. Maresca was a good manager,” Keown said in his analysis.
Who has enjoyed the best win rate of Chelsea’s five managers?
As aforementioned, Chelsea are now in pursuit of their sixth permanent manager. Alonso looks to be the favourite, but the Blues are also keeping tabs on Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva, as well as others.
CHELSEA PLAYER OF THE SEASON – FINAL!
One thing to keep in mind for Chelsea’s next manager is the win rate of the previous five incumbents. Tuchel only managed seven of his 100 games as Chelsea boss following BlueCo’s arrival in 2022.
He won three times, boasting a win rate of just 42%. Graham Potter fared worse, boasting just 38% at Chelsea across 31 games. Mauricio Pochettino improved things, winning 26 of 51 games, at 51%.
Maresca boasted the best of Chelsea’s five permanent managers under BlueCo, with 60% and the less said about Liam Rosenior, the better. If Alonso does take charge, keep the win rate above 60%.
