Man United trained at Carrington on Thursday morning ahead of Monday night’s Premier League clash with Brentford.
Manchester United youngster Sonny Aljofree took part in first-team training on Thursday ahead of the clash with Brentford. The 21-year-old was drafted into the session as United continue to suffer with injury problems.
Ayden Heaven was the only senior centre-back available for last Saturday’s trip to Chelsea. He was partnered by right-back Noussair Mazraoui in defence. Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt were absent due to injuries while Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire were serving suspensions. De Ligt and Yoro were both missing from Thursday’s session.
Aljofree was promoted to United’s U21s in 2023 and spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at National League club Altrincham. Last season, the centre-back played in League Two with Accrington Stanley before joining promotion-chasing Notts County on loan in August 2025.

However, after 11 appearances for the Magpies, his loan spell was cut short in January and Aljofree returned to Carrington. Since February, he has captained the U21s in seven Premier League 2 games and played the full 120 minutes as United lost to Real Madrid in the Premier League International Cup earlier this month.
Matheus Cunha was also absent from training on Thursday. The Brazil international is on a recovery day and should be available for Monday’s game. Cunha scored United’s winner at Stamford Bridge, his eighth since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Patrick Dorgu missed the session as he continues his recovery from injury.
Along with Aljofree, the first team squad were also joined by youngsters Shea Lacey, Jack Moorhouse, and Tyler and Jack Fletcher.
Maguire will be available to play against Brentford but Martinez will not return until United’s trip to Sunderland on May 9. It’s hoped Yoro could be back in time for the game against Keith Andrews’ side but Michael Carrick will give an update on the Frenchman at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
