Made On Rs 50 Lakh Budget, Devotional Film Creates Box Office Record, Enters Rs 100-Crore Club
A film has been generating significant buzz among audiences for its thrilling box office performance. Made on a budget of Rs 50 lakh, the film surpassed nearly Rs 100 crore worldwide.
The film’s roaring success shows that neither big budgets nor big stars are essential. What’s even more surprising? This hit is not from Bollywood or the South, but from Gujarati cinema.
It is Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, the film has become Gujarati cinema’s highest-grossing film.
Reports say the film was recently released in international markets, earning around Rs 5.50 crore and pushing its worldwide total close to Rs 100 crore.
Released a month and a half ago, the film is still going strong in the domestic box office. On the 49th day of its release, the film earned Rs 1.15 crore.
The film initially struggled at the box office but positive word-of-mouth resulted in an uptick in audience from the third week.
Without any flashy publicity or celebrity lineup, that film quietly opened in only 2-3 theatres in Ahmedabad. And now, it is breaking back-to-back records.
As per the reports, Laalo Krishna Sada Sahaayate earned Rs 5.50 crore on its fifth Saturday, becoming the first Gujarati film to collect Rs 5 crore in a single day.
So far, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate’s total earnings in India have reached around Rs 79.1 crore. Given the performance, it is safe to say that the film might soon enter 100 crore club in India as well.
If the current trend continues, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate will create history, surpassing many South Indian blockbuster films including Kantara, Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2.
This devotional drama follows a rickshaw driver who is trapped in a farmhouse and is guided by visions of Lord Krishna to confront his past.
Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate stars Reeva Rachh, Shruhad Goswami, Karan Joshi, Mishty Kadecha and others in the leading roles.
