Legendary Multistarrer Fails To Ignite Buzz In Telugu

Summer season is usually the most preferred release window for big-ticket Telugu movies after Sankranti festival. Every year, a bunch of big-budget films test their luck during this holiday season. But, Tollywood box office is witnessing a dry phase due to lack of any prominent releases this year. 

While medium and low budget Telugu films are hardly taking any advantage of this vacuum, even dubbing films are unable to make any impact as our moviegoers are not much excited to encourage them due to lack of exciting content. 

Even a star-studded multi-starrer like Patriot, which boasts ensemble cast including heavyweights like Mohan Lal and Mammootty and talented artists Fahad Faasil and Nayantara is not making any noise in Tollywood circles ahead of its release next week due to lukewarm buzz in audiences and because of the dubbing film tag. 

Patriot is billed as a spy action thriller with political elements infused into the narrative. The film has good expectations in Malayalam trade due to the heavy star cast. It is projected as a pan-India film, but couldn’t build anticipation in other states. 

Both Mammootty and Mohan Lal have a strong craze in Telugu states. Fahad Faasil made a solid impact with Pushpa franchise. Nayanthara has a strong craze here because of his familiarity with Telugu films. Yet, Patriot is unable to draw the attention of audiences in other languages. The fact that both these superstars are reuniting after 18 years is also not working for Patriot beyond Kerala. 

Due to poor promotional campaign, Patriot is failing to generate the much needed hype in Telugu states because team’s strategy didn’t find much traction so far. Meanwhile, a handful of small Telugu films are getting ready for release on May 1st. Satya’s Jetlee and Tharun Bhascker’s Gayapadda Simham are creating some buzz with interesting promotions. 

As Patriot poses no big threat at the box office, these Telugu films are aiming to make some moolah in theatres during the peak Summer when temperatures are soaring outside.
