He may have spent his evening systematically dismantling the Chelsea defense, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was quick to offer a surprisingly humble assessment of the side he had just left in ruins.

Chelsea have given themselves an uphill task in the return leg of their Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain after handing the French club a three-goal deficit.

It didn’t start off in the best fashion with Chelsea’s starting XI seemingly getting leaked hours before kick-off, but even so, it’s down to the players on the pitch to get the job done.

For large parts, Rosenior got his tactics spot on and caused PSG lots of issues. However, Malo Gusto thinks that the Blues should have been more defensive after it went to 2-2.

However, PSG’s star of the show, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, still rates Chelsea highly.

Liam Rosenior needs to stop changing formations and tactics every two minutes 😡

How must the players feel?

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia says Chelsea are still a good team

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo after the game, Kvaratskhelia‘s opinion of Chelsea remained the same, despite shipping five goals.

“I’m happy that I can help to the team and I’m more happy that we won against Chelsea because they are good team. And yeah, I’m happy for that game.”

As Kvarataskhelia says, it wasn’t as if Chelsea were awful, just things seemed to fade away and fall apart when Joao Pedro went off and heads dropped after that mistake.

After all, there is still a second leg to put things right, but keeping the PSG winger and Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele out for 90 minutes won’t be an easy task.

What should Liam Rosenior’s next move be?🤔

Chelsea’s Champions League history of first-leg deficits

Chelsea has never successfully overturned a three-goal aggregate deficit in the Champions League, though history provides two two-goal moments.

In 2012, they famously recovered from a 3–1 first-leg loss to Napoli, winning 4–1 at Stamford Bridge after extra time. Two years later, they repeated the feat against PSG, overturning another 3–1 deficit with a dramatic 2–0 home win secured by Demba Ba’s late strike.
