You think you’re breakup is messy? Katherine LaNasa says ex-husband Dennis Hopper haunted her after his death in 2010, years after they had divorced and they had both remarried. When asked by W if she believes in ghosts, The Pitt star was quite definitive. “I do believe in ghosts,” she said. “The ghost of Dennis Hopper would not leave me alone for a really long time.” LaNasa married Hopper in 1989, when she was 22 and he was 53. They had a son together, Henry Lee Hopper, and divorced in 1992. Hopper married Victoria Duffy in 1996 and was in the process of divorcing her when he died. “We’ve been divorced a very long time, but I was the last wife that he’d been with that he wasn’t currently divorcing,” she said, “so I think that level of intimacy when you’re dying is maybe only something you can do with a partner.”

LaNasa gave a brief outline of some of the times she got haunted by Hopper. “He visited me, first, in ways that were scary,” she said. “He came one time looking like when he was at the Academy Awards. And he was in a wheelchair, and he fell down, and it was super upsetting.” She also said he would appear over her “in a sweat.”

LaNasa set a boundary with Hopper’s ghost, and he respected it. Not something he was known especially for doing in life. “I told him he had to leave me alone, and then he did, and then I felt really weird about it,” she said, adding that the day she expressed this discomfort to a friend, she feels she got a message from Hopper that everything was chill. “I walked home an odd way and ran into a gallery that had all of his photographs up, and a photograph of him in the very back of the gallery with a fedora on winking at the camera,” she said. “I felt like he was letting me go.”
