From her Easter-blue look at this weekend’s Trooping the Colour, to this luxurious butter-yellow look, Princess Catherine’s pristine royal wardrobe only gets better.
Today, the Princess of Wales joined husband Prince William and the rest of the British royal family at the Order of the Garter Service at Windsor Castle. The traditional ceremony, held every June at Windsor Castle, celebrates Britain’s oldest and most senior order of chivalry, which was founded by King Edward III in 1348. It is a major event on the royal calendar filled with medieval pageantry, which is why William wore a traditional blue velvet robe and ostrich feather-plumed hat.
But Kate went her own way, dressing up in a lovely floral-brocade coatdress in a muted yellow, the fabric of which was custom-woven by Stephen Walters & Sons. The design was courtesy of London designer Patrick McDowell, and featured Kate’s favorite coat silhouette: sharp shoulders, a pristine collar, and large, bold buttons.
For an extra dose of glamour—and a welcome bit of drama—the princess accessorized with a matching wide-brim boater hat by Jane Taylor London. The sharp piece featured an elegantly folded bow on the back, and its strict edges were complemented by the romantic soft waves of Kate’s caramel-brown hair.
As connoisseurs of Kate’s style know, the royal loves her suede, and this time, she completed her dreamy ensemble with beige suede pumps and a matching clutch. Her jewelry also spoke volumes, as she chose to wear the dangly diamond acorn earrings she wore to her 2011 wedding to William.
The pieces were commissioned as a bespoke wedding gift by her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, for the occasion, and crafted by London-based jeweler Robinson Pelham. They went perfectly with the Cartier Halo Tiara lent to Kate by Queen Elizabeth II for the grand royal wedding.
The earrings hold plenty of sentimental value for Kate, as she and Wills celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary just this past April, and sources say they’ve never been more in love.
