Karuppu collected Rs. 16.75 crore approx at the Indian box office in its third weekend. With that, the Suriya starrer topped Rs. 200 crore, for a seventeen-day cume of Rs. 210 crore approx. Karuppu is the fourteenth Kollywood film to hit the double-century mark domestically, while being the first for Suriya. For that matter, he had no Rs. 100 crore film until now and now has made an entry to the Rs. 200 crore club directly.
The drop in the third weekend was 60 per cent, which is a bit steep considering the trajectory the film showed in the first two weeks. There was a drop on the 2nd Tuesday, and since then the business has stabilised at that level. The film has another Rs. 20-25 crore to go and is likely to close around Rs. 230-235 crore.

In the home state of Tamil Nadu, the film has collected Rs. 140 crore approx so far and is cruising towards Rs. 150 crore plus. It has climbed into the top fifteen grossers of all time, currently at thirteenth position. By the end of this week, it will storm into the top ten, to seventh place. There is a shot at it beating Amaran at sixth place, which will depend on how its late legs go.
The film has also done well in Telugu, with APTS sitting at Rs. 32.50 crore approx. Karnataka has cleared the Rs. 20 crore mark, while Kerala will close just under Rs. 15 crore.
