JSW Jetour T2 vs Toyota Fortuner – Powertrain Compared

The Jetour T2-based SUV will mainly be introduced as a PHEV (Plug-in hybrid) with a 1.5-litre engine. Don’t just go by the size, it is more powerful than the Fortuner’s petrol or diesel powertrain setup – here’s a detailed look
| JSW Jetour T2 | Toyota Fortuner | |
| Engine Capacity | 1.5-litre turbo petrol with dual motors and a 26.7kWh battery pack | 2.7-litre petrol engine / 2.8-litre diesel engine |
| Power | 381bhp | 164bhp (petrol) , 202bhp (diesel) |
| Torque | 610Nm | 245Nm (petrol), 500Nm (diesel) |
| Gearbox | 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) | 5MT, 6MT, 6AT |
This clearly shows how powerful the Jetour T2 is compared to the Toyota Fortuner in India. However, JSW might use the 3-speed DHT transmission instead of the e-CVT gearbox. The DHT transmission is expected to offer better acceleration and performance compared to the e-CVT gearbox option.

In the international market, the Jetour T2 even gets an AWD drivetrain with several off-road-biased features, like crawl mode, drive modes, and X-drive (which automatically adjusts the 4X4 settings to provide instant torque). This list of features could be carried over to the SUV that will be sold in India. This could make it an exciting choice for those looking for a rugged SUV with a more powerful engine than the Fortuner.
That said, it will be a good battle to watch between the two SUVs; however, many might still rely on the Toyota Fortuner due to brand image, reliability and high resale value.
