As JBL marks its 80th anniversary, the audio company has introduced its new Bar MK2 soundbar series in India, expanding its premium home entertainment portfolio with a focus on immersive cinema-style audio experiences.
JBL’s emphasis on home audio comes at a time when demand for large-screen entertainment and connected speaker systems is growing. The company, founded in 1946 by engineer James B. Lansing, has long been associated with professional audio systems used across cinemas, live events and recording studios.
According to the company, JBL Professional systems have a strong presence across multiplexes, premium theatre formats, concerts and large public events in India.
The new Bar MK2 range includes the JBL Bar 1300MK2, JBL Bar 1000MK2, JBL Bar 800MK2 and JBL Bar 500MK2. The soundbars support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies and feature detachable wireless surround speakers designed to reduce cable clutter while enabling a more flexible speaker setup.
JBL said the lineup also incorporates technologies such as MultiBeam 3.0, SmartDetails, AI Sound Boost and PureVoice 2.0, aimed at improving dialogue clarity, bass performance and spatial audio precision.
The flagship JBL Bar 1300MK2 includes a dual 8-inch subwoofer system and detachable wireless rear speakers intended to create a more immersive surround sound experience. The Bar 1000MK2 and Bar 800MK2 are positioned as comparatively compact alternatives for different room sizes.
Dolby Laboratories, which partnered with JBL for the range, said the inclusion of Dolby Atmos technology is intended to deliver more detailed and spatially accurate sound for films, music and gaming content.
In India, the JBL Bar 1300MK2 is priced at Rs 1,74,999, while the Bar 1000MK2 and Bar 800MK2 are priced at Rs 1,49,999 and Rs 1,24,999 respectively. The Bar 500MK2 is priced at Rs 64,999. The products are available through JBL’s online store and retail platforms.
