Jannik Sinner advanced to his fifth consecutive ATP Masters 1000 final at the Mutua Madrid Open on Friday, when he eased past Arthur Fils. In the other semi-final, Alexander Zverev ended Alexander Blockx’s run and advanced to the title match in the Caja Magica for the fourth time.
ATPTour.com looks back at the biggest Friday stories through video.

In the first semi-final clash of the day, Sinner faced Fils. The Italian controlled the match throughout. Fils pushed back in the second set, but Sinner had all the answers, highlighted by this 24-shot rally he won to seal a decisive break in the second set.
The World No. 1 eventually cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 triumph in 86 minutes. With the victory, Sinner became the fourth — and youngest — man to reach the final at all nine Masters 1000 events, joining Novak Djokovic (25 years), Rafael Nadal (27 years) and Roger Federer (30 years). The 24-year-old will face Alexander Zverev in the championship match.
In the second semi-final of the day, Alexander Zverev also earned a straightforward victory by defeating Alexander Blockx 6-2, 7-5. The 29-year-old brought plenty of excitement to the court, including this stunning smash in the opening set.
The German powered to his 30th victory in Madrid in one hour and 35 minutes. With the triumph, Zverev became just the third man, alongside Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, to reach the final in Madrid at least four times.
