Jamie Allen: Premier-League bound Coventry City release long-serving midfielder

Midfielder Jamie Allen has been released by Premier-League bound Coventry City after seven years with the club.

The 31-year-old has been with the Sky Blues since the start of the 2019-20 season and was part of the club’s journey from League One to the top flight.

He leaves after making 200 appearances and scoring 12 goals.

“What a journey it’s been. Seven years, two promotions with league titles, 200 appearances and memories to last a lifetime,” Allen told the club website., external

Head coach Frank Lampard called Allen a “top player and incredible professional” and highlighted his influence on the team during this season, when 19 of his 23 appearances came from the bench, as the team clinched the Championship title and ended a 25-year wait to get back to the Premier League.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with him. The impact he has had at the football club has been huge on and off the pitch,” Lampard said.

“He was pivotal in the last 18 months, and in helping us win the title this year.”
