The actor added that he was engaged in track and field, basketball, and tackle football at a young age. “I was interested in sports. And then not until I was around 12 or 13, my father introduced me to music, even though I grew up with a lot of music,” he said.

The actor also revealed that his father once asked him to perform a Michael Jackson song in front of the King of Pop himself, a prospect that made him very concerned. “I was incredibly scared of doing it because at the time, I didn’t know if I had a voice or if I could sing or not.”

However, performing the song before the legendary pop singer meant that the actor’s father took him to the studio more and showed him how the music creation process worked.

“I grew up always loving films and inspired by films. And just how you can get lost in it and loving those stories. But I never dreamed of wanting to be an actor until there was that moment when I had that conversation with Graham King. That’s where it all started,” he said. For the uninitiated, King is the producer of the Michael Jackson biopic.
