Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez played 45 minutes apiece as Ecuador extended their unbeaten run to 19 games in their final warm-up game before their 2026 World Cup campaign gets underway.
La Tri outclassed their opponents Guatemala, running out 3-0 winners in Columbus, Ohio. Kendry Paez started for Ecuador and watched on as Jordy Caicedo opened the scoring from the penalty spot midway through the first half.
Paez was one of several players to make way at the interval, with Caicedo entering the action for his first international minutes since March.
Ecuador continued to dominate in the second half and gave the scoreline a fair reflection through goals from Sunderland’s Nilson Angulo (celebrated top with Caicedo) and Pervis Estupinan of AC Milan.
It meant yet another clean sheet for Ecuador, who have conceded just six goals in their 19-game unbeaten streak. They will seek to continue that impressive run when they play Ivory Coast in their maiden World Cup match of this summer’s tournament in the early hours of Monday 15 June.
