The Ministry of Civil Aviation deputed officials to major airports on Tuesday (December 9) to assess the situation. In a post on X, the Ministry said an official had reviewed conditions at Hyderabad airport and found passenger flow to be smooth across key touchpoints. It added that airline communication systems were functioning well and that all stakeholders were focused on maintaining service reliability.
IndiGo issued a statement on Tuesday saying its operations had been reinstated after several days of steady improvement across the network. The airline said it operated more than 1,800 flights on Monday, connecting all 138 stations, and planned to operate nearly 1,900 flights the following day. It said on-time performance had returned to normal and that it had introduced an automated process for customers to receive full refunds for cancellations through a simple ‘No Questions Asked’ mechanism on its website.
Passengers whose flights were cancelled have taken to X to describe their experiences. One passenger, Subrata Paul, wrote that the airline’s claim that operations had returned to normal was vague. He said his Hyderabad to Bengaluru flight had been cancelled the previous day, forcing him to travel by bus, and he was still awaiting a full refund.
Another passenger said he had booked a journey from Pune to Patna with a two-hour layover in Hyderabad. He said IndiGo cancelled the Hyderabad to Patna leg while operating the Pune to Hyderabad flight as scheduled, which left him stranded in transit. He added that arranging an alternative journey proved significantly more expensive.
