The second ODI of the series brings India and South Africa together at Raipur. The hosts played well in the first match, going 1-0 up with a dominant performance with the bat. Their goal now is to finish the job and seal the series with a game to spare. South Africa have shown they are not going down without a fight and have enough firepower to square the series. For now, India have the upper hand going into this one due to the home advantage.

India Preview
India opened the series in strong fashion, driven by a commanding effort from Virat Kohli, whose 135 from 120 balls lifted the side to a massive total of 349 in the first ODI. That total proved more than enough, and the bowlers did their part to close out the match in the last over, but the attack lacks much experience across all conditions.
The batting unit holds strong impact across every phase. Alongside Kohli, Rohit Sharma brings the sort of experience that anchors the order. His recent form in this format has been outstanding, with three scores of 50 or more in his last three outings, and that form should carry forward.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has the ability to provide early momentum, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul steady the innings through the middle. Rahul can jump the scoring rate late in the innings, something he proved in the opener with his 60 off 56.
The bowling unit contributed but had uneasy spells under pressure. Harshit Rana produced the standout return with three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh held his lines well, and both appear set to challenge South Africa’s top order once again.
Prasidh Krishna provides variation and can strike in the middle overs, although he tends to give runs at times. Kuldeep Yadav handles the spin duties and was outstanding in the first match. His control, along with the subtle use of pace, earned him four wickets, and gives India an option who can trouble South Africa’s middle order throughout long passages of play.

South Africa Preview
South Africa move into the second match with plenty of belief, even though they fell short in the first ODI. It was a high-scoring surface where they pushed India deep into the contest despite sliding to 11-3 before fighting back to reach 332. That resilience should carry into the next match.
Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock guide the opening phase, mixing intent with the patience needed to shape an innings once bowlers tighten their lines. De Kock has an excellent ODI record against India with six hundreds, and he will be looked at to produce another strong showing.
The middle order brings in Matthew Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi, two players who can settle in for long periods and push the score ahead. Breetzke, in particular, will be prominent for the visitors after his steady 72 from 80 balls in the previous ODI. He averages 68 in ODIs this year, and another substantial effort from him would not surprise.
Their batting stretches deep with Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen, and Corbin Bosch offering dependable support in the lower portion of the order. Jansen and Bosch nearly pulled off a stunning turnaround in the first ODI with their fifties, which showed how long this South African batting unit runs.
The bowling unit looked well balanced in the opener as Nandre Burger and Corbin Bosch produced telling spells that gave India trouble while picking up four wickets between them. Jansen and Ottneil Baartman added two wickets each last time, which strengthens a varied attack that offers the captain multiple paths through the middle overs.

Weather Conditions
The new ball overs at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur tend to give seamers a chance to test batters with some movement off the pitch and early bounce. As the match wears on under floodlights, the surface often slows down a bit, and spinners might begin to get a little grip. Boundaries are fairly long here — that pushes batsmen to pick their spots rather than swing wildly for sixes. In a 50-over day-night game, the team bowling first could get an edge early, but a well-paced innings can still post a challenging total if shot-selection is careful.
The weather in Raipur will be cool and dry, with no chance of rain.
IND vs RSA Pitch Report
There has only been one ODI played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium, so there isn’t much data to rely on for the average first-inning score here. However, from the domestic T20s played here, it appears to be a typical Indian surface – great for batting overall, but a bit two-paced. So a score of around 280 will be competitive here.
Toss: To Bowl
With chances of heavy dew setting in post 7 PM, expect the toss-winning captain to bowl first and try and chase the target down when conditions favor them more.
India will want to press their advantage after going 1-0 up and wrap up the series in this game. South Africa are a resilient bunch, though, and they have already proven they will scrap until the final delivery. Another tight contest that goes down to the wire looks on the cards. India, as the home side, have a narrow 51-49 edge in this matchup, but South Africa could easily push them hard again and possibly sneak past them.
Back India as the winners of the second ODI.
