In a big development in Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron’s dating scandal, the late actress’ mother has now issued a statement, reiterating that the ‘The Queen Of Tears’ star was dating her daughter when she was just a minor. In her statement, the mother also accused Kim Soo Hyun and his legal team of spreading false claims about them and stated that the truth will soon be out via investigation.
“After much deliberation, I have gathered the courage to write this. While we complied with the investigative agency’s request to refrain from media contact, Kim Soo-hyun’s legal representative has been persistently posting false claims on their YouTube channel to incite public opinion,” the statement read.
“I fear the world might believe the other party’s falsehoods, and the truth could be buried. Kim Soo-hyun’s side has framed our evidence as fabricated, claiming, ‘Kim Sae-ron never dated Kim Soo-hyun during her minority.’ Even if additional materials are disclosed today, they will likely repeat the same argument. Whether the evidence was fabricated or whose account is accurate will soon be revealed through the investigative agency’s findings,” it added.
The mother also shared a memo forensically extracted from Kim Soo-hyun’s device. It has been dated September 28, 2017, i.e. before Kim Soo Hyun’s military enlistment. She also claimed that ahead of a meeting scheduled for April 12, 2018, Kim Soo Hyun messaged her daughter, “I want to see you immediately,” and added, “I’m completely undressed,” arguing. “This proves they were lovers,” she said.
Kim Soo Hyun Urges For ‘Swift’ Probe
This comes days after Kim Soo-Hyun also urged for a proper and swift investigation into the late actress Kim Sae Ron dating case. The actor’s legal representative, lawyer Ko Sang-rok, shared a statement on his channel stating that the police authorities have already conducted ‘a considerable part of the investigation’ and therefore, they must make ‘swift conclusion’ to the case.
“The police may say that ‘a considerable part of the investigation has been conducted,’ but personally I am concerned about whether that investigation was properly carried out based on the essence and core of the case,” the lawyer said, as quoted by Chosun Biz.
“At this point, seven and a half months after the initial date of the complaint (March 20), there are no plans to seek or request a change to a new investigation team,” he continued, adding, “However, from the victim’s perspective, because excessive time is being taken for remedies, we hope for a swift conclusion to the investigation.”
The lawyer mentioned that the delay in the closure of the case is also spoiling the actor’s reputation. “It was an unavoidable measure to disclose some private records of the actor to correct the public’s distorted perception. As the investigation delay lengthens, speculation spreads and the actor’s reputation is being damaged,” he said.
What Is The Controversy?
Kim Soo Hyun has been accused of dating the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was just a minor. While the matter is still in court, the latter’s family made several allegations against Soo Hyun. However, Kim Soo Hyun previously held a press conference and addressed allegations. He said, “I’ll address the biggest concern—I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. We dated five years ago for about a year, long before Queen of Tears aired.”
The actor also explained why he denied dating Sae Ron earlier, saying, “As the lead actor of Queen of Tears, I couldn’t confirm the relationship publicly because of its potential impact on the cast and crew.” Kim also denied accusations that his agency pressured Sae Ron over her debts, saying, “Aside from the fact that we were both actors, we were simply an ordinary couple who broke up over time.”
Amid the ongoing controversy, Kim Soo Hyun’s career also went for a toss. His projects have been halted and brand deals have also been cancelled.
