At the time of Sierra’s launch, Tata had revealed only the starting price of the SUV at Rs 11.49 lakh (Smart+ trim). Tata has now revealed the prices for the Pure, Pure+, Adventure and Adventure+ trims. However, pricing of the top-spec Accomplished and Accomplished+ trims is yet to be revealed. Let’s compare pricing of Tata Sierra with Hyundai Creta vs. Kia Seltos vs. Maruti Grand Vitara vs. Toyota Hyryder to better understand the options available.

Tata Sierra Smart+ pricing vs. rivals

Tata Sierra Smart+ is available with both the 1.5-litre Revotron petrol and the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine options. With both engines, the Smart+ gets only a 6-speed manual transmission option. Price of the Smart+ petrol MT was already revealed earlier at Rs 11.49 lakh. Tata has now announced the price of the Smart+ diesel MT, starting at Rs 12.99 lakh.

Coming to the pricing of rival offerings, Hyundai Creta base variant with the 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine and manual transmission is priced at Rs 10.73 lakh. Creta diesel MT (1.5 CRDi) is available at a starting price of Rs 12.25 lakh. In both cases, Creta is more accessible than Sierra. However, one also has to examine the equipment list to understand which SUV offers better overall value.

Next is Kia Seltos, which has the same engine options as the Creta. Seltos base variant with the 1.5-litre petrol manual powertrain is available at a starting price of Rs 10.79 lakh. This is slightly higher than Creta, but more accessible than the entry-level Sierra. Kia Seltos diesel base variant is available at a starting price of Rs 12.32 lakh.

In the case of Maruti Grand Vitara, the base variant (Sigma MT) is priced at Rs 10.77 lakh. This places it broadly in the same league as the Creta and Seltos from a purely price perspective. In comparison, Toyota Hyryder has a slightly higher price for the base petrol MT variant at Rs 10.95 lakh. Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder share the same powertrain options.

Tata Sierra Pure, Pure+ pricing vs. rivals

Sierra Pure and Pure+ trims have the 1.5-litre Revotron petrol and the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine options. Tata Sierra Pure MT petrol is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh, whereas the diesel MT is priced at Rs 14.49 lakh. Sierra Pure petrol DCA variant is priced at Rs 14.49 lakh, whereas the diesel AT variant has a price tag of Rs 15.99 lakh.

Sierra Pure+ gets additional features, pushing the price of the petrol MT variant to Rs 14.49 lakh. Buyers choosing the Pure+ petrol DCA variant will need to shell out Rs 15.99 lakh. Sierra Pure+ diesel MT and diesel AT variants are priced at Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 17.49 lakh, respectively.

In case of Hyundai Creta, an IVT transmission option is available with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. Starting price of the IVT range is Rs 13.88 lakh. Diesel AT option with the Creta starts with the DSL EX(O) variant. It is available at a starting price of Rs 15.41 lakh. A similar pricing can be seen with Kia Seltos petrol automatic and diesel automatic variants.

Automatic option with the Maruti Grand Vitara starts with the Delta variant. This is available at a starting price of Rs 13.45 lakh. Toyota Hyryder has the petrol AT option starting at Rs 13.62 lakh.

Tata Sierra Adventure, Adventure+ pricing vs. rivals

Sierra Adventure 1.5-litre Revotron petrol MT is available at a starting price of Rs 15.29 lakh. The DCA version costs Rs 16.79 lakh. Sierra Adventure 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel manual variant is priced at Rs 16.49 lakh. Tata Sierra Adventure does not get an automatic option with the diesel engine.

Sierra Adventure+ has all three engine options on offer. The Adventure+ Revotron petrol manual is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh. Diesel manual and diesel AT variants are priced at Rs 17.19 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh, respectively. Sierra Adventure+ with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol Hyperion engine with AT is priced at Rs 17.99 lakh.

Hyundai Creta 1.5 MPi Petrol MT SX Premium is available at a starting price of Rs 15.78 lakh. Creta diesel MT SX Premium has a price tag of Rs 17.31 lakh. Hyundai Creta 1.5 CRDi Diesel AT DSL SX(O) is priced at Rs 19.31 lakh. Creta turbo petrol engine is offered with a 7-speed DCT transmission. The Creta 1.5 Turbo Petrol DCT SX(O) is priced at Rs 19.49 lakh. Similar pricing can be seen for Seltos diesel and turbo petrol variants.

Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder do not have any turbo petrol or diesel option. However, these have a strong hybrid option. Grand Vitara strong hybrid is available at a starting price of Rs 16.63 lakh. Toyota Hyryder strong hybrid has a price tag of Rs 16.46 lakh.
