A guest assaulted a Cast Member while trying to meet Mirabel. He was arrested and banned from the parks.
Guest Assaults Cast Member
The man, Diego Rodriguez, attempted to cut in line several times while waiting to meet Mirabel at EPCOT. The incident occurred on April 21 and a cast member repeatedly told him that he was not allowed to do so. Rodriguez was also with a female guest and a child.
According to the NY Post, the child then reportedly tried to run off to meet Mirabel but was stopped by the attendant, and the mother also tried to get Mirabel to sign the autograph book. They were informed that Mirabel was only taking photos at that time.
At this point, the female guest waved the book in Mirabel’s face, and Rodriguez allegedly grabbed the arm of an attendant and shook her. He also verbally assaulted the attendant and Mirabel.
Reports say the male guest lunged at Mirabel, shouting, “Why can everyone take a picture but us?” Other cast members then stepped in, and police officers were called to the scene. He was arrested and held on battery charges at the Orange County Police Department. Rodriguez was also permanently banned from all Disney World properties.
While Mirabel does not have a traditional meet and greet at EPCOT, she is part of the “¡Celebración Encanto!” show in the park.
