Google agrees to pay USD 68 mln to settle Assistant privacy case
Google has agreed to pay USD 68 million to settle a lawsuit claiming that its voice-activated assistant spied inappropriately on smartphone users, according to a report by Reuters. Plaintiffs said Google Assistant misheard what they said as trigger words to activate the service and then sent them unwanted advertising. The news agency reported that Google declined to comment, but that court papers showed it had denied wrongdoing and settled to avoid the risk, cost and uncertainty of litigation.
