In a room filled with diplomats, billionaires and political heavyweights, it was not a world leader or tech CEO commanding social media attention in Beijing. Instead, it was Elon Musk’s six-year-old X Æ A-Xii, better known online as “Lil X”, who unexpectedly became the breakout fashion moment of the Trump-Xi summit.
Accompanying his father to the Great Hall of the People, where Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with top American business leaders, Lil X emerged as the undisputed star of the moment. Dressed in dark trousers and a crisp white shirt topped with a light blue Chinese-style embroidered silk vest featuring delicate floral and bird patterns, the young boy struck a perfect balance between playful and poised. But it was his accessory that truly captured hearts and headlines: a charming tiger-shaped crossbody bag.
Why Is Everyone Talking About Elon Musk’s Son In China?
Photographs and videos from Beijing showed Lil X wearing dark trousers, a crisp white shirt and a blue Chinese-style silk vest while holding Musk’s hand inside the Great Hall of the People. Slung beside him was the now-viral tiger bag, a playful folk-style accessory rooted in traditional Chinese craft aesthetics.
According to Chinese media reports, the bag was designed by a handicraft fashion brand YASTEE, based in Guangxi and quickly sold out online after Lil X was photographed carrying it. Prices reportedly crossed 300 yuan, approximately $44 with demand surging almost instantly as screenshots and clips flooded Chinese social platforms.
The tiger-head bag, crafted by artisans from a traditional handicraft fashion brand in Guangxi, instantly became a viral sensation on Chinese social media. Rooted in Chinese folklore, tiger motifs have long symbolised protection, courage, strength and good fortune for children.
This bag looks like a contemporary interpretation of traditional Chinese tiger-head folk art (Hǔtóu), traditionally used in children’s apparel to ward off evil and protect the wearer. The bag design features a stylized, three-dimensional tiger face characterized by large, protruding concentric eyes and thick, black faux-fur eyebrows that create a spirited and deterrent expression.
Constructed from a tan fabric base, the accessory is bordered by a fuzzy, fringe-like mane and detailed with teal and green floral and leaf appliqués on the ears and cheeks. Its wide-open mouth reveals white felt fangs and a playful blue character on the tongue, while dark blue tassels hang from the bottom corners in a nod to classic talismanic textile charms.

Finished with a modern, geometrically patterned crossbody strap, the piece blends ancient cultural symbolism where the tiger represents bravery and health with a bold, editorial aesthetic.
People are even praising Lil X’s outfit for being adorable and culturally respectful, celebrating the subtle nod to local traditions during a high-profile international summit. The moment gained extra warmth when a social media user commented on the boy’s appearance, prompting Musk to reply in Chinese, “My son is learning Mandarin.”
This was not Lil X’s first public outing. The youngest son of Musk has frequently joined his father at major events, from White House visits to meetings with world leaders, including an introduction to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His presence adds a touch of youthful humanity to Musk’s high-octane world.
