Diablo 4’s secret cow level finally found after three years

After three years, the hunt for Diablo 4’s secret cow level is finally over, as players have discovered how to find and defeat The Cow King.

Secret cow levels are a long-running tradition in the Diablo series. What started as a theory in the original game became real in Diablo 2, where Blizzard actually added a secret post-game area called “Moo Moo Farm,” which was full of killer cows led by The Cow King.

The following entry in the series featured its own hidden cattle battle, and players have to complete a number of specific steps to unlock it. But when Diablo 4 launched, the devs were adamant that there were no cows to find.

Naturally, this didn’t stop players from trying to find one, and they discovered plenty of evidence that there either was a secret cow level or that one would be added down the line. Now, following the release of Lord of Hatred, it’s finally been uncovered.

Diablo 4 players have fianlly defeated The Cow King

The new expansion added plenty of mysterious objectives that seemed to hint at the possibility of a cow level. They sent players all over the map to track down specific items, including cow milk, which then need to be combined together using the Horadric Cube.

Then, as explained by YouTuber LoatheBurger, you can head to Cow Island and open the portal to the fabled level.

Once inside, you’ll quickly be attacked by “Tormented Bovine” armed with pole axes and unsettlingly standing on two legs. Then, you’ll come across The Cow King, a towering boss that packs more of a punch.

Defeating him grants a number of cow-themed items, including The Cow King’s Crown. This special helm unlocks various bonuses based on the days of the week, such as extra damage on “Moonday,” and additional “moobility” on Thursday.

Some players have expressed disappointment that the level is so short, especially given that it took three whole years to find it. But still, the community can finally put this mystery to bed, unless Blizzard has more plans to milk it even further.
