After breaking Box Office records during its theatrical run and being declared an all-time Blockbuster with more than Rs 1140 crore at the India Box Office, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, helmed by Aditya Dhar, is all set to premiere on streaming platforms. The sequel will be released on JioHotstar from May 15th and will be a longer version of the theatrical cut of the movie, with its title being Dhurandhar The Revenge (Raw and Undekha).
Screenshots of the film’s title card have been circulating on social media, revealing that the OTT premiere is scheduled for midnight, 15 May. The film is expected to be available in HD and 4K resolutions with Dolby 5.1 audio support and will reportedly run for 3 hours 52 minutes and 24 seconds, considerably longer than the theatrical version. Reports also suggest that the film will be streaming on Netflix internationally from the same date, although official announcements from streaming partners are still awaited.
Box Office Journey
The digital premiere comes a week after the film concluded its successful 8-week run at the Box Office. The film had achieved remarkable feats at the ticket counters, crossing Rs 1140 crore at the Indian Box Office and more than Rs 1791 crore worldwide. Along with the first instalment of Dhurandhar, the franchise has now collected over Rs 3100 crore from only two instalments at the global Box Office, making it the most successful franchise.
Franchise Future
Director Aditya Dhar has assured fans that his connection to the franchise is far from over, stating that he “is not done with Dhurandhar.” Further information regarding the future of the franchise is expected to be out later this year.
