Kara, starring Dhanush, is the actor’s latest theatrical release. Directed by Vignesh Raja, who previously helmed the acclaimed thriller Por Thozhil, the film features Mamitha Baiju of Premalu fame as the female lead. Veteran actors K. S. Ravikumar and Jayaram play pivotal supporting roles.
The film hit theatres on April 30, 2026, and opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Despite generating decent initial curiosity, it failed to make a strong impact at the box office. Following its theatrical run, the digital streaming rights were acquired by Netflix for a hefty price.
The rural action thriller is now rumoured to premiere on Netflix on May 28, 2026. It is expected to stream in multiple languages, including Tamil and Telugu, while an official announcement from the makers is awaited.
Kara is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International in association with Think Studios. The technical crew includes cinematographer Theni Eswar and editor Sreejith Sarang. Popular composer G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the film’s soundtrack and background score.
