Crimson Desert Huge Free Update Is A Base-Building Game-Changer

Posted on

Arguably, the best part about Crimson Desert, or any open-world title for that matter, is making a home for your lost soul of a warrior.

Traversing endless paths from quest to quest can all get a bit tiresome for even the most experienced of soldiers, and we all need a bit of time to put our feet up with a cup of Joe.

So, making a home away from home has quickly become one of the most important elements for this kind of game, and Crimson Desert is leaning into it hard.

Despite an uneasy start, Crimson Desert has been refined to a spectacular Game of the Year contender, thanks to post-launch updates from Pearl Abyss.

Now, the popular title will be getting a string of updates ahead of a new DLC that will rival The Witcher 3.

The first of these comes with patch 1.12.00, which finally adds the highly-requested feature to decorate outside of your homes.

Crimson Desert Finally Goes All-Out Animal Crossing

There are already a lot of features in Crimson Desert that evolve the game from a sword-slasher to an immersive medieval simulator.

Players can build their own homes and decorate them with their tastes, but the exterior has always remained untouched.

The new update changes that, as it will allow players to ‘decorate the area outside your house.’

The patch adds new furnishings to the outside, alongside 58 new furniture options, including rugs, carpets, planters, toys, a music box, and pet comforters.

For the exterior, it’s all about the planters, fountains, and lighting. While we’re still a bit away from having the Garden of Eden growing in your lawn, it’s a great start to allow for more personality and creativity.

All of these pieces can be crafted at a Workstation or a Loom, which makes your material gathering even more important as you transform your snug.

The addition of pet support continues to lean into the Animal Crossing vibes as Crimson Desert has become its own haven for furry friends. This takes the limelight away from combat and a great storyline, and forget saving the kingdom as long as your doigs have a comfy bed, the birds are full of seed, and your baby wyvern is smiling.

The decorations aren’t the only feature coming, as there will be new crafting options for five pieces of headgear, a pair of gloves, and an armour set.

A range of quality-of-life improvements have been made for combat and controls too, further refining the clunky mechanics from launch.

So, grab your green-fingered gloves and a bucket hat because we’re going gardening.
