Corey Feldman has spoken out about the “misdiagnosis” that saw him hospitalized earlier this week, telling fans that he actually had a case of food poisoning.
The 54-year-old experienced a medical emergency on a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles on the afternoon of Monday, June 15, and was met by paramedics at the gate after his arrival at LAX.

TMZ reported at the time that Feldman felt sick on the flight and was examined by a doctor who was also on board. A rep for the Goonies actor confirmed his hospitalization to PEOPLE, adding that doctors ruled out gallstones as the cause.
Two days later, on the evening of Wednesday, June 17, Feldman shared a video on Instagram in which he told fans he was feeling better and was working on a “brand new rocker” song.

“I don’t even know what it’s called yet, it’s that brand new,” he explained, in what appeared to be a recording studio. “But I like it, we like it, we’re all digging it, it’s pretty freaking cool.”
In the caption, he addressed his medical emergency, writing in all capital letters, “I WANTED 2 TOUCH BASE AFTER THAT BIG OL HEALTH SCARE & LET U ALL KNOW IM ALIVE & WELL!”
He explained that a doctor misdiagnosed him, before claiming that somebody on the medical staff “SENT THAT MISDIAGNOSIS 2 THE MEDIA IN REAL TIME,” based on preliminary blood test results.
“HOWEVER, IT WAS ONLY FOOD POISONING THANK GOD! ILL B OK,” he said.

Feldman had been in Chicago to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his 1986 movie Stand by Me, reuniting with costars Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton at an event on Sunday, June 14.
In an Instagram post later that evening, he shared photos from the city and also told fans that he visited a monument to Michael Jackson at the late singer’s childhood home in Gary, Indiana, while on his travels.

He added that the weekend marked the final weekend of Stand by Me’s 40th anniversary shows, but said they could add some more dates in the future.
When he, O’Connell and Wheaton spoke to PEOPLE in March, Feldman described the tour screenings as “like a rock ‘n roll tour.”
Elsewhere, Feldman’s latest single, “What Am I Here 4,” is set for release on Monday, June 22, while he’s also set to play two B-Day Bash shows in California later that week to celebrate his upcoming birthday. He’ll turn 55 on July 16.
