Nothing CEO Carl Pei has said the company will not introduce a flagship smartphone this year, as it shifts focus towards delivering more meaningful upgrades in future iterations. Following this, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF has also put its next smartphone launch on hold, shelving plans for the CMF Phone 2 Pro successor.
According to the company, no new CMF smartphones will be released this year. The decision comes amid a sharp rise in memory chip prices, driven by a global shortage of RAM and NAND components, with suppliers prioritising demand from the booming AI data centre industry.
CMF India head Akis Evangelidis confirmed on X that development on the next device had already begun but has now been paused. He added that if the CMF Phone 2 Pro were to be launched under current market conditions, its price could nearly double, rising to around ₹30,000–₹35,000 from its original ₹18,999 launch price in India.

The surge in demand for DRAM and NAND memory, along with OEMs shifting towards high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production for AI applications, has tightened supply further, creating challenges for smartphone makers globally.
While CMF will skip new smartphone launches this year, the brand plans to expand its product portfolio in 2026 and explore new categories, though details remain undisclosed.
