Cincinnati Open Announces Community Weekend to Open 2026 Tournament

Posted on

The Cincinnati Open is opening its doors early for Community Weekend, a two-day celebration packed with events on Aug. 8–9.

The family-friendly weekend of activities will precede tournament match play, which begins Tuesday, Aug. 11 and will continue until Finals Weekend featuring the singles championship matches on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Community Weekend will have something for everyone with a multitude of kids activities, a 5K run, a Red Bull BassLine exhibition and opportunities to see the pros up close during practice sessions. The two-day event reinforces the Cincinnati Open’s commitment to supporting the local community with Ride Cincinnati activating across both days.

“Community Weekend is at the heart of what the Cincinnati Open is all about,” Cincinnati Open Tournament Director Bob Moran said. “We’re excited to open our doors early with something for everyone, and we’re proud that this weekend gives back. These opening days give us the opportunity to find additional ways to benefit our community while celebrating tennis.”

Kids activities will be held on both Saturday and Sunday, featuring interactive on-court experiences for the youngest fans as well as plenty to do on the grounds. Kids will be able to participate in tennis drills, autograph sessions with the pros, face painting, balloon artistsfairy hairlive music and more.

Saturday night will be highlighted by Red Bull BassLine, a unique, separately ticketed exhibition featuring current and former pros (to be announced) competing in a tiebreak, knockout format on Grandstand to the beat of an on-court DJ. The innovative and fast-paced competition, unlike any other competition in tennis, has taken Australia and Europe by storm, and Aug. 8 will mark its U.S. debut.

The second day of Community Weekend, Sunday, Aug. 9, will begin with the inaugural Cincinnati Open 5K, a fun run for runners of all levels to traverse the transformed 40-acre tournament venue. The 5K is open to all ages and running paces and will end with a post-race concert and party.

Also on Sunday, there will be more on-court and off-court Kids Day activities with special guests as well as adaptive tennis tournaments and clinics.

Across both Community Weekend days and on Monday, Aug. 10, the world’s best players will be putting in their final preparations with open seating during practices giving every fan a front-row seat.

Community Weekend is more than a warm-up to the main draw; it’s a celebration of Cincinnati tennis history and the fans who make the Cincinnati Open special. Beyond Community Weekend, the Cincinnati Open will continue ongoing charitable initiatives throughout the event. In 2026, the Aces for Kids campaign, which raised $146,000 for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in its previous year, will return, generating donations based on aces hit throughout the tournament. Cincy Serves, in partnership with Fifth Third, also returns for its third year to celebrate 11 local honorees, donating $5,300 to a charity of their choice.
