Christian Pulisic was subbed off to start the second half of USA’s first 2026 World Cup match against Paraguay on Friday, June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Sebastian Berhalter replaced the winger.
The United States was up 3-0. The FOX broadcast said he motioned to his family that he’s OK, and there was no obvious injury before the half. Pulisic was sitting on the bench by the end of the match.
Pulisic, who plays in Italy for AC Milan, was part of the first goal when he passed the ball to Weston McKennie, who then tried to kick it to Folarin Balogun. The sequence turned into an own goal off Paraguay.

U.S. Soccer said that manager Mauricio Pochettino would address Pulisic’s substitution after the match.
Pulisic, now 27, made his USMNT debut as a 17-year-old in 2016 and scored a goal in the 2022 World Cup. Pulisic is fourth in USMNT history with 20 assists.
