ChatGPT Image 2.0 can fix LinkedIn’s ‘good photo’ problem in seconds, says Anupam Mittal

Anupam Mittal believes artificial intelligence may have finally cracked a surprisingly persistent digital problem, finding the right professional profile photo.

In a recent LinkedIn post, the Shaadi.com founder reflected on his early days building the platform in the 2000s, when simply uploading a photograph was a major hurdle for users. At the time, people had to visit studios, get prints developed, scan them at cyber cafés, and send them via email, a process that often led to drop-offs before profiles were completed.

While technology has moved on, Mittal pointed out that the core issue hasn’t really gone away, it has just changed form.

Today, users have thousands of photos stored on their smartphones, but very few are suitable for professional platforms like LinkedIn. Most images tend to be casual, selfies, group shots, or travel pictures, and often fall short on basics like lighting, framing, or background.

Mittal noted that this matters more than people realise. Citing LinkedIn data, he said profiles with professional headshots tend to get significantly higher visibility, yet many users still struggle to find a usable image in their existing gallery.

That’s where AI tools like ChatGPT Image 2.0 come in.

According to Mittal, the tool can generate a polished, professional-looking headshot within seconds. Users simply need to upload an existing image and provide a prompt describing what they want, such as clean lighting, natural skin tones, sharp styling, and a neutral background, and the system can transform a casual photo into something suitable for professional use.

He even shared a sample prompt to demonstrate how straightforward the process can be:

“Use my uploaded photo to create a polished professional headshot for LinkedIn, with clean lighting, natural skin tone, sharp styling, and a neutral premium background.”
