Cannes 2026: The best fashion, from Demi Moore’s decaying gown to John Travolta’s berets, Sebastian Stan’s shaved head and Bella Hadid’s Jane Birkin-inspired frock

Demi Moore, John Travolta, Sebastian Stan and Bella Hadid are just a handful of the stars currently lighting up the French Riviera as the Cannes Film Festival returns for its 79th year. Hot on the heels of the Met Gala, the historic festival has once again transformed the Croisette into a global stage where film, fashion, celebrity and culture collide — with Hollywood royalty, supermodels, directors and fashion houses all descending on the South of France.

While there were concerns this year’s festival might miss its usual injection of Hollywood glamour due to major studios skipping the event, that hasn’t been the case. Barbra Streisand — one recipient of the prestigious Palme d’Or awards for lifetime achievement — may be a no-show due to an injury, but other stars have joined jury members Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao and Ruth Negga on the red carpet.

Highlights so far have included Barbara Palvin debuting her baby bump alongside partner Dylan Sprouse; Cara Delevingne working one excellent shaggy hairdo; Demi Moore wearing one of the biggest hot-pink bows we’ve ever seen and a decaying hem; and Bridgerton star Simone Ashley matching the red carpet in a sensational Alexander McQueen gown.

Leave it to Bella Hadid to bring some serious glamour to the Cannes red carpet. The supermodel attended the screening of La Bataille De Gaulle: L’Âge De Fer on May 20 in an ivory, lace Schiaparelli gown that featured a plunging neckline that scooped below her midriff. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to the crochet dress Jane Birkin wore in 1969, Hadid’s gown was also adorned with an intricate black beaded brooch that sat between her cleavage and navel. The back of the frock featured an oversize, laced-up bow.

The custom gown, according to Schiaparelli, required 22,160 hours of embroidery involving 130 artisans.

For the Global Gift gala on May 20, Eva Longoria opted for a black-and-white beaded gown with a thigh-high slit. The sparkly, color-blocked piece also featured a plunging, halter neckline.

Alexa Chung rarely misses, and the look she wore to the Man I Love screening on May 20 is no exception. For the event, the British “it” girl rocked a dress with a delicately draped, plunging, silver bodice, cinched with a slouchy black bow and a dark navy, semi-sheer, beaded skirt with ruffles.

A moment for all the lace! For the screening of The Man I Love on May 20, Halsey, who executive-produced the film, wore an ornate, corseted gold-and-black gown with ruffled, off-the-shoulder sleeves and a thigh-high slit. What we love about this look is the attention to detail: The intricate design and beadwork on the bodice left us speechless!

Yet another standout look from Demi Moore! For a screening of The Man I Love on May 20, Moore stepped out in a white, buttoned-up gown with a halter neckline, paired with a long black scarf.

Sharon Stone debuted her second red carpet Cannes 2026 look on May 19 in a statement black gown, complete with an elegant wrap and a bodice bow (more minimalist than Demi Moore’s, FYI) .

Dita Von Teese was as glamorous as ever in her corsetted gown and opera gloves at the Amarga Navidad (Bitter Christmas) screening.

Marvel star Sebastian Stan leaned into understated Cannes cool in a warm brown suit at the Fjord photocall.

For her third Cannes 2026 red carpet outfit, Barbara Palvin was ethereal in a cream, off-the-shoulder dress with an empire waist that highlighted her baby bump.

It was a date night for Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, who stepped out for the screening of their new movie, Hope. As classy as ever, Vikander wore a sleeveless white gown with sheer panels, while Fassbender was in a tux.

Salma Hayek worked her signature silhouette — a form-fitting column dress — from her go-to label, Gucci, at a Cannes event. Completely covered in white feathers, the dress was opulent, tactile, and very old-Hollywood, an aesthetic Hayek is celebrated for.

This outfit highlighted many of the sartorial trademarks Colman Domingo’s known for: embellishments, maximalist details and luxurious fabrics.

More great menswear was delivered courtesy of Miles Teller and Adam Driver, at the Paper Tiger photo-call. Driver’s monochrome suit had no faults, but it was Teller’s V-neck lightweight knit paired with suit pants in an almost identical hue that we’ll remember.

Cate Blanchett in a black column dress with an exaggerated collar was a real red carpet highlight at the Paper Tiger screening. The actor wore her hair loose and kept her accessories simple, letting the velvet Louis Vuitton gown do the talking.

Jury member and director Chloé Zhao turned to Schiaparelli for her spiky ensemble — an example of the fashion-forward style she embodies. Her Cannes fashion has been making waves, proving that it’s not just the onscreen stars who wear the best clothes.

Displaying her tattoos beautifully, this sculptural black dress from Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford was exactly what we would expect from Cara Delevingne: classic and hitting the brief, but with a memorable twist.

Congratulations to the gorgeous couple! Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse attended the Histoires Parallèles screening on May 14, where they made quite the announcement: They’re expecting their first child! Debuting her baby bump, Palvin stepped out in a sweet baby-blue Miu Miu gown with a dreamy empire waist and feathered hem. Sprouse looked sharp in a navy suit. This wasn’t their only red carpet moment…

Palvin and Sprouse also walked the Karma red carpet on May 15 in coordinating looks. Sprouse wore a black suit with a cropped jacket, while Palvin wore a white button-down and a black floor-length skirt with a charming cummerbund-like waist, inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s style.

Miranda Priestly would be proud! The Devil Wears Prada 2 star Simone Ashley showed off her sartorial prowess at the Karma screening on May 15, when she stepped out in a strapless red Alexander McQueen gown from fall/winter 2005.

Dua Lipa is in town! The “End of an Era” pop star kept things casual in a monochromatic, deep purple Ferragamo set with a corseted, lace-up detail. She opted for matching, bright red accessories: a shoulder bag and mules.

What’s not to love about this look from Cara Delevingne? The model attended the Club Kid photocall on May 15 in a navy pinstriped suit with a sheer polka dot dress shirt underneath, designed by Tom Ford for Haider Ackermann. The ensemble’s crisp lines perfectly juxtaposed Delevingne’s shaggy rocker hairdo.

It doesn’t get more rocker-chic than this. Karma star Marion Cotillard attended the film’s red carpet premiere on May 15 in head-to-toe Chanel. The French actor’s edgy look consisted of a black leather dress with drawstring-like straps, a slight drop waist and fringed hem. Cotillard’s dress and pumps were adorned with Chanel’s signature gold CC logo hardware.

It was a family affair at the screening of Karma on May 15. John Travolta walked the red carpet alongside his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta. The acclaimed actor wore a dark navy suit and cream-colored beret, while Ella opted for a black floor-length gown.

Jury member Demi Moore stepped out in a red Gucci gown with a statement, structured neckline. Moore’s sparkly Chopard jewels made for the most glamorous finishing touches.

No notes for Sara Sampaio! The model and Victoria’s Secret Angel looked ethereal at the Fatherland screening on May 14, when she stepped out in a pale yellow, strapless Miu Miu gown. We’re not sure what we love more: the intricate corseted bodice or the layers of ruffled tulle!

Demi Moore offset the red carpet beautifully in a shimmery lavender Gucci gown on the second evening of the festival. A dramatic train, wet-look hair and a transparent skirt ensured the outfit would go down in the Cannes Film Festival fashion history books.

Jordana Brewster changed from the pinstripe pantsuit she had worn for The Fast and the Furious photo-call into a black dress for the film’s anniversary screening, featuring a ribcage-to-ankle lace panel.

Michelle Rodriguez opted for a more ethereal red carpet ensemble, wearing a metallic, embellished ballgown featuring a corset and a layered, tulle train.

Gillian Anderson — making her Cannes debut for her movie Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma — kept things simple at the film’s screening in a minimalist Miu Miu white column dress, enhanced by beaded accents.

Also at the La Vie d’une Femme screening, jury member Ruth Negga showcased her sartorial prowess in a black tulle and lace gown by Saint Laurent.

British-Indian actor and L’Oréal Paris ambassador Alia Bhatt, who is making her Cannes debut, wore a Danielle Frankel gown with a lace choker and a full skirt.

Gillian Anderson wore an embellished Miu Miu column dress to Wednesday’s photo-call for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, her latest film, directed by Jane Schoenbrun. But her hair, blown out in enviable disco curls, was the real triumph.

Demi Moore traded her daytime look — a playful, polka dot Jacquemus number — for another strapless, sculpted gown. This time, the dress was sleek, floor-length and coated in sequins.

Also at the opening ceremony, Ruth Negga paid homage to the ’90s in a Dior mint-green negligee-inspired slip dress with black lace accents and dramatic fringing.

Jane Fonda was also in attendance — and also opted for sequins. The actor’s high-neck, long-sleeve and floor-sweeping black Gucci gown ensured she glittered from head to toe.

Another standout look was delivered by Emily in Paris star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who was as fashion-forward as ever in a plum ruffled Saint Laurent gown, complete with a train.

Heidi Klum wore a peach gown by Elie Saab to the opening ceremony. The sculptured dress was adorned with an oversize flower on the bodice, a twist design at the waist and a cascading train.

Dame Joan Collins, known for her role in Dynasty, defied her 92 years in an eye-catching orchid-inspired Stéphane Rolland couture dress, paired with diamonds and opera gloves.

All eyes were on Demi Moore at the jury members’ photo-call, wearing a playful Jacquemus dress. It was a celebratory look that got us excited for the other outfits Moore and stylist Brad Goreski have packed.
