Chelsea’s two successive wins have kept the season alive going into March, with the feel-good factor alive and well at Stamford Bridge. But for Robert Sanchez, things aren’t going to plan.
Rosenior watched his side “set fire” to four points against Leeds United and Burnley before losing to Arsenal at The Emirates. It had left Chelsea’s pursuit of Champions League qualification in utter tatters.
But a win over Aston Villa at Villa Park, on the same night that Liverpool and Man United also lost, has seen Chelsea return to fifth and now look good again to finish in the Premier League’s top five places.

Then, Chelsea progressed into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup despite going behind twice to Wrexham. Two crucial wins that Chelsea absolutely had to win. But Sanchez isn’t enjoying the Chelsea momentum.
Ben Foster feels for Robert Sanchez amid poor Chelsea form
Every Chelsea fan is aware that £25m signing Sanchez is error-prone. He can be an excellent goalkeeper, a superb shot-stopper, capable of finding teammates with some lovely passes. But of late, it isn’t working.
Sanchez endured a dismal display at Arsenal that left Rosenior with his head in his hands. Subsequently, Sanchez was dropped against Villa. He came back in against Wrexham, but made mistakes once again.

Speaking on his own podcast, Ben Foster admitted that as a goalkeeper, Sanchez is in an “awful place”. He does not believe Sanchez is making honest mistakes, and that his decision-making has evaporated.
“You can make honest mistakes, you’ve chucked one in, it’s gone through your hands, they can happen. A bad game is when you’re dithering on the ball and you’re giving the ball away, you’re making bad passes.
“Not making the right decisions. The crosses too, he came for a couple and missed them. When decision-making goes, it’s an awful place to be, really indecisive; it’s the worst place to be,” Foster explained.
Who should start in goal for Chelsea against PSG?
Rosenior might have been hoping that by taking Sanchez out of the firing line against Villa, and then bringing him back against Wrexham, it would do Sanchez some good ahead of the trip to PSG.
Chelsea fans pick Jorgensen to start in goal v PSG – do you agree?
The results of our poll: Sanchez or Jorgensen?
But another poor display in which Sanchez was at fault for Wrexham’s first goal, will have obliterated his confidence. Rosenior will have been hoping he could rely on his more senior goalkeeper in Paris.
But such is his form at the moment, Rosenior may have to turn to Filip Jorgensen. Indeed, The Chelsea Chronicle’s poll saw 74% of fans vote for Jorgensen to start against PSG in the Champions League.
As things stand, Sanchez might well be Chelsea’s no.2 and with the summer fast approaching, it could well be the last we see of the former Brighton man if Jorgensen can show some decent form.
