- Cobra Chrome returns as a flagship cruiser/custom tyre family
- 77 SKUs, including 14 whitewall sizes through 2026
Rejoice India’s premium cruiser crowd, owners of big Triumphs, Indians, Ducatis and Harley-Davidson machines, this is the sort of tyre update that matters because style, sizing and supply often decide the upgrade. Avon has completed a redevelopment of its Cobra Chrome range, including a very recognisable calling card, the whitewall. Four years after Avon became part of Goodyear’s motorcycle brand portfolio alongside Dunlop, the company is using Cobra Chrome as a signal that it wants its cruiser and custom line-up to look purposeful again.
The refreshed Cobra Chrome range will be offered in 77 front and rear sizes, with 14 of those featuring the uber cool white sidewall. Spanning 15- to 23-inch rim fitments is exactly the spread you want on modern cruisers and baggers with unusual sizing. These sizes will be available across 2026.
For India, the relevance sits in a niche but visible corner of the market. Owners of expensive cruisers and premium roadsters running larger wheels and wide rubber often struggle with choice, waiting times, and uncertain freshness of stock. You will have to ask your dealers to source them for you.
Avon says premium motorcycle tyre production has been relocated to Goodyear’s facility in Montluçon, France. Whitewall tyres also need special attention while manufacturing. The white rubber compound has been reformulated to improve fade resistance while the sidewall assembly work has moved from being largely manual to more automated. In the whitewall world buyers pay for the look, and even small inconsistencies stand out immediately once the tyre is on a large, shiny wheel.
