ATP Rome Day 9 Predictions Including Sinner vs Rublev

Day 9 of the ATP Rome Masters sees the remaining two quarterfinal matches on the schedule as top seed and home favorite Jannik Sinner is in action. As ever, we preview and predict both the scheduled quarterfinal matches for you.

ATP Rome Day 9 Predictions

Martin Landaluce vs Daniil Medvedev

Head-to-head – First Meeting

This is going to be an exciting battle between the young and upcoming Martin Landaluce against the unpredictable Daniil Medvedev. The Spaniard is just 20 years old and broke onto the scene with a fantastic run to the quarterfinals in Miami. He was not able to carry forward that momentum until now making the most out of being the lucky loser in qualifying to reach the last eight without dropping a set.

Medvedev has always been an enigma on the clay courts and his season started with a double bagel in Monte Carlo. Overall, Medvedev has looked solid this week as he has posted decent numbers on serve thus far. Landaluce has served very well this week as well and the Spaniard has all the shots to make it tough for Medvedev to feel settled from the baseline.

Expect Medvedev to be defensive as it comes naturally to him but Landaluce is pretty aggressive and his shots should have the power and precision that has been evident this week to push through the defences of Medvedev in a tight three setter.
Prediction: Landaluce in 3

Jannik Sinner vs Andrey Rublev

Head-to-head – Sinner 7-3 Rublev

Jannik Sinner has steamrolled his way expectedly to the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters as he is clearly the overwhelming favorite to win the championship. The Italian faces Andrey Rublev, who has had a decent clay court season with a final appearance in Barcelona.

Rublev will no doubt have to red line his game from the baseline to have any chances of beating Sinner, but with the form Sinner is in, it is likely whatever Rublev throws at Sinner will come back with a sharper angle and speed.

Expect Sinner to be at his best once again as he is in prime position to dictate play from the baseline and throughout the match.
Prediction: Sinner in 2
