ATP Hamburg Quarterfinal Predictions Including de Minaur vs Darderi
With just a few days until the French Open main draw starts, many ATP players are getting match practice in Hamburg, Germany. Alex de Minaur and Tommy Paul are among the men who have made it as far as the quarterfinals in Hamburg. All the matches promise to be exciting, and we here at LWOT predict all the action in this article.
ATP Hamburg Quarterfinal Predictions
Ugo Humbert vs Ignacio Buse
Head-to-head: First meeting
Humbert’s career achievements are more impressive than those of Buse. However, the Peruvian has been superb in Hamburg. After two qualifying victories, he easily swept aside Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik. By contrast, Humbert overcame Justin Engel and Karen Khachanov in deciding set tiebreaks. Buse’s excellent performances and his opponent’s likely fatigue mean I think the 22-year-old’s run will continue.
Prediction: Buse in 2
Tommy Paul vs Daniel Altmaier
Head-to-head: Paul 1-0 Altmaier
Both men fought through tight battles in the previous round. Paul won an epic match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry in a deciding set tiebreak, while Altmaier fought back from a set down against the No. 2 seed Ben Shelton. Altmaier was able to rely on his serve for free points against Shelton consistently. Paul’s better return and willingness to extend the rallies make it a worse matchup for the German.
Prediction: Paul in 2
Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Camilo Ugo Carabelli
Head-to-head: Kovacevic 1-0 Carabelli
Each player caused an upset to reach this stage. Kovacevic eliminated the No. 1 seed, Felix Auger-Aliassime, despite losing the opening set, and Ugo Carabelli triumphed against Frances Tiafoe. Kovacevic utilizes an aggressive style, but Ugo Carabelli is best-placed to counter that on clay. Expect a close battle that I think Ugo Carabelli will edge.
Prediction: Ugo Carabelli in 3
Alex de Minaur vs Luciano Darderi
Head-to-head: First meeting
De Minaur’s two victories so far in Hamburg were welcome after failing to record a win in Madrid or Rome. By contrast, Darderi’s efforts to reach this stage are impressive after getting to the semifinal in Rome. Although Darderi’s best chance of beating de Minaur is on clay, the Australian’s game suits stifling players like Darderi. Expect the No. 3 seed to make the semifinals by getting enough balls into play.
Prediction: de Minaur in 2
