Apple’s Exceptional MacBook Pro M5 Got Its First Major Price Drop

The latest MacBook Pro is on sale at Amazon for its lowest price ever as of May 11. At 10% off, it’s a nice price for a peerless laptop. We closely track laptop prices, and when this deal popped up, it demanded our attention. After comparing it with other retailers, Amazon is the only place offering it at this discount.

From the outside, the latest MacBook Pro is perfectly identical to the 2025 release of the powerhouse content-creation laptop: a gorgeous, durable aluminum chassis, responsive keyboard and touchpad, and 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion adjustable refresh rate. But it’s what’s inside that counts, and the new M5 processor is Apple’s best silicon yet, making this our top-pick portable for content creation, entertainment, and productivity.

Apple MacBook Pro M5 Deal

In our review of this machine, PCMag expert Brian Westover said it “vaults past what we expected generation to generation,” giving it an Editors’ Choice award and an “Outstanding” rating. The fifth-generation processor holds a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine designed to optimize on-device AI. In our testing, it crushed the competition from both Windows machines and the last-generation MacBook Pro. Most notable was the incredible improvements in GPU performance, with 3DMark results stacking up to PCs with dedicated current-generation Nvidia cards. Throw in a generous 24GB of on-device RAM, and there’s not much this baby can’t do.

Apple’s push into AI has been remarkably successful, and the new macOS Tahoe folds in even more useful Apple Intelligence tools, including live translation for Messages, Phone, and FaceTime, intelligent shortcuts, and automated workflows to speed your workday along. Battery life is also incredible, with Apple promising 24 hours on a single charge, which we were able to replicate in our testing. You’ll be able to work and play all day without worrying about finding an outlet to top it off.

We wouldn’t expect a 10% discount to stick around long, and once it’s gone, you’ll have to wait until the summer’s big sales events to match it, and even then, it’s not a guarantee. If you’ve been longing for a new MacBook, snap this one up.
