Amy Schumer announces divorce from husband Chris Fischer after 7 years
Amy Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer are calling it quits.
The “Trainwreck” star announced the news on Friday in an Instagram post.
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer began. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not becisse I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
The couple, who began dating in 2017 and married the following year, share one son, Gene, whom they welcomed in 2019. Fischer is a seasoned chef and has previously worked with Mario Batali, Alice Waters, Keith McNally, and Fergus Henderson.
A source exclusively told People that there is no bad blood between them. “There’s nothing ugly. It’s a cohesive split. They’ve just been finalizing a few things.”
Speculation that their marriage was on the rocks arose in the past few months. On Nov. 13, a source told People, “They’re privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages have. They are both committed to the relationship.”
Schumer, seemingly aware of the rumors about her and Fischer’s union, began referencing it on social media.
In early November, the “Kinda Pregnant” star shared a picture praising Hulu’s divorce-lawyer series “All’s Fair,” on her Instagram Stories, per the outlet. Given the nature of the show, she comically informed: “And Chris and I are still married.”
Then in December, Schumer shared an update on her health journey, where she also addressed speculation about her marriage. “Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote in the post.
“Fingers crossed we make it through,” Schumer added. “He’s the best.”
