Allu Cinemas Trolled for Atlee on Legendary Directors Wall
An unexpected controversy has erupted on social media after the inauguration of Allu Cinemas in Hyderabad. The debate began when videos from inside the multiplex showed a “legendary directors wall” displaying photos of filmmakers such as SS Rajamouli, Mani Ratnam, Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sukumar, Trivikram Srinivas, Prashanth Neel, Rishab Shetty, Vetrimaaran, and Atlee. Many cinema lovers online expressed disappointment because some very influential directors were missing from the display.
People are mainly upset about Atlee’s presence on the wall among legendary filmmakers. Atlee is often accused of making films that copy Shankar’s old films. Because of this perception, a section of fans questioned why Atlee was featured on the “legendary directors” wall. Many believe he doesn’t deserve to be placed among the legendary directors.

Some netizens even alleged that the choices might be biased because Allu Arjun is currently collaborating with Atlee for his next film, or else Atlee wouldn’t have got this honor. According to these comments, some of the directors may have been given preference due to personal or professional connections. This argument has triggered a heated discussion among film fans online.
A section of fans also questioned why iconic directors like Shankar were not featured on the wall despite their huge contribution to Indian cinema. Others also pointed out the absence of directors like Ram Gopal Varma and Puri Jagannadh, who significantly influenced the storytelling of modern Indian cinema.
The controversy surfaced just after the grand opening of the multiplex, which was inaugurated by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy. Allu Arjun and Allu Aravind welcomed the guests and explained the features of the new multiplex to them.
The multiplex currently has four screens, including a massive 75-foot Dolby Vision screen, which is said to be one of the largest in Asia. Screenings at Allu Cinemas are expected to begin on March 19 during the Ugadi festival, with films like Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Dhurandhar 2 among the first releases scheduled to play there.
