Unwell, the media company founded by podcaster Alex Cooper and her husband, Matt Kaplan, held an all-hands meeting on Tuesday, amid concerns about the startup’s show launches, employee retention and complaints about Kaplan’s behavior.
T.J. Marchetti, Unwell’s chief marketing officer, hosted the gathering. He discussed the continued expansion of the company’s leadership team as well as plans to grow the business. He acknowledged there have been employee departures, but said Unwell’s turnover is below that of other startups. Cooper and Kaplan, who serve as co-chief executive officers, were not present at the meeting, according to people familiar with the discussions.
