Pakistan’s Sindh Information Department announced the project in a post on X, stating that the upcoming movie aims to present what it described as the “authentic story” of Lyari. Titled Mera Lyari, the film is expected to focus on the area’s culture, resilience, and community life rather than crime or violence.
“Misrepresentation cannot erase reality. Lyari stands for culture, peace, and resilience—not violence. While Dhurandhar spreads propaganda, Mera Lyari will soon tell the authentic story of pride and prosperity,” the department said in its post, adding that the film is slated for release in January 2026. The statement also criticised what it called “Indian propaganda” against Lyari.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues its record-breaking run at the box office.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has emerged as Ranveer Singh’s highest-grossing film to date. The movie has dominated the Indian box office and delivered exceptional numbers overseas, particularly in North America.
The film has collected Rs 351.75 crore net in India, surpassing Ranveer Singh’s previous top grosser Padmaavat, which earned Rs 302.15 crore. The strong opening was followed by sustained momentum, with the film grossing Rs 28 crore on its first Friday and Rs 207.25 crore in its opening week.
A major highlight came in the second week, when Dhurandhar earned Rs 32 crore on its second Friday—an industry record for 2025. By the end of its second weekend, the film had comfortably crossed the Rs 350 crore mark domestically.
Overseas as well, Dhurandhar has made history. In North America, it registered the highest-ever second Friday collection for an Indian film, beating the long-standing record of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. It has also become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 in the region, overtaking Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film’s performance, calling its collections “rule-breaking” and crediting Aditya Dhar’s storytelling and the film’s scale for its massive appeal. He also noted that the blockbuster success comes at a crucial time for Ranveer Singh, helping him bounce back strongly after a relatively quiet phase.
Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and Gaurav Gera.
