Upcoming Maruti Hybrid Cars

Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to shake things up with a new kind of hybrid tech that’s focused on one simple thing: giving you more mileage without pushing prices out of reach. This system works a bit differently from the usual hybrids we see today. Instead of the engine helping drive the wheels, it mostly works in the background as a generator. The actual driving is handled by an electric motor. In everyday terms, that means the engine runs more efficiently, especially in stop-and-go city traffic, which is where most people spend their time anyway. If everything goes as expected, these cars could deliver over 35 kmpl in test conditions. That’s seriously impressive for regular, mass-market cars, and it could change what people expect from fuel efficiency in this segment. Here are four upcoming Hybrid cars from Maruti’s side.

Upcoming Maruti Hybrid Cars – Fronx

The Fronx is expected to be the first model to debut this new series-hybrid technology, likely as part of its mid-life facelift. It would use the Z12E engine as a generator, paired with an electric motor driving the front wheels. The system is expected to deliver a combined output of 90-110 bhp, with a strong focus on fuel efficiency rather than performance. We can expect a fuel efficiency of 35-40 kmpl, making it one of the most efficient compact SUVs in India. Earlier, Fronx test mules were spotted with a LiDAR unit, suggesting that we could see an ADAS-equipped Fronx soon. The Fronx Hybrid is expected to launch around 2026, with on-road prices in Mumbai estimated at ₹11 lakh to ₹15 lakh, depending on the variant and features.

Upcoming Maruti Hybrid Cars – Baleno Hybrid

Following the Fronx, the Baleno is also expected to adopt the same series-hybrid technology with its next-generation update, which means the same 1.2-litre engine will be used. The model is anticipated to launch around 2027, with on-road prices of around ₹10 lakh and ₹13 lakh in Mumbai.

Upcoming Maruti Hybrid Cars – Swift

The Swift Hybrid has been a long-awaited one from Maruti’s side. Using the same Z12E-based series-hybrid system, the Swift Hybrid will prioritise city efficiency and ease of driving. The vehicle could feature a polished array of current features available on the ongoing Swift model. Maruti could offer the hybrid with premium features, such as an ADAS suite and a sunroof, to help it stand out. The launch timeline remains uncertain, but it is expected to be post-2027, with estimated on-road pricing in Mumbai ranging from ₹9 lakh to ₹12 lakh.

The Brezza, one of Maruti Suzuki’s highest-selling SUVs, is expected to receive the series-hybrid technology at a later stage, likely with a full-generation update. The outgoing model uses a 1.5-litre NA petrol, which is expected to be phased out with the facelift. The hybrid could use a completely new engine or use the bigger 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain of the Grand Vitara and Victoris. The launch is likely towards the end of the decade (2028–2029), with projected on-road pricing in Mumbai ranging from ₹13.5 lakh to ₹17 lakh.
