Rahul Roy rose to fame with his 1990 movie Aashiqui. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the film followed the love story of Rahul and Anu, played by Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. The film’s enduring popularity eventually led to a spiritual sequel, Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor.

Following his debut, Rahul Roy appeared in films like Junoon, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee and Gumrah. While he remained a familiar face, none of these projects matched the massive success of his first film. Despite this, he continued experimenting with roles, trying to break away from the romantic hero image that had defined his early career.

Later, Rahul Roy transitioned into character roles and alternative platforms. He also participated in the first season of Bigg Boss and emerged as its winner. Over the years, Rahul also explored regional cinema and independent films. However, nothing worked. Eventually, his mainstream stardom faded but his debut remains iconic even today.

Recently, Rahul Roy grabbed everyone’s attention after he dropped a dance video with content creator Dr Vanita Ghadhage Desai on his Instagram handle. The two were seen grooving to the song ‘Tere Dar Pe Sanam’ from his 1993 film Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi. Roy was mocked after the video went viral, with many questioning ‘Aise kya majboori thi?’

Later, Roy also reacted to those mocking him and urged everyone to help him find work. In a statement that the actor shared on his Instagram handle, Rahul Roy wrote, “I do my work with honesty and modesty. I have some legal matters to pay for, and these are not from today—they are from before the brain stroke happened.”

Rahul further asked trolls to help him find work and added, “If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you. If you are truly so concerned, then help me find some genuine and decent work so I can pay for these cases. At least I am earning through hard work, not by mocking others.”

“And after the brain stroke, it is important for me to stay active. I want to work for as long as I am alive. It keeps my mind active and gives me the sense of purpose and responsibility that I am still working today. Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes, but you cannot break me,” he concluded.

Later, Archana Puran Singh also came out in support of actor Rahul Roy and wrote on her Instagram handle, “More power to you @officialrahulroy. Love that you are doing what works for you and keeps you happy. You’re always amazing and I totally binged on the reels with your OG songs. Lots of love and strength to you Rahul”.
