2027 Maruti Baleno – What To Expect
Maruti has planned an exciting update for its premium hatch, Baleno. The new model is expected to get a new powertrain, Maruti’s own series hybrid, which will debut with the Fronx. Along with that, Maruti’s hatch is likely to see some feature additions and cosmetic changes.

Features
Before we list all the expected features, we expect Maruti to work on the safety of its hatch. The model has already received a 4-star safety rating; however, with the update, we expect Maruti to tweak the formula a bit to achieve a full 5-star safety rating. It’s currently simple for them; use the Dzire’s formula. Now, talking about the expected features on the new model, the list includes –

Powertrain
With the update, the Baleno is expected to feature a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine. Maruti is currently testing this engine for pairing with a hybrid system. That said, the same engine will pair with the series hybrid system. This will further increase mileage, and the Baleno is expected to return around 27+ kmpl with this hybrid system. Along with the hybrid system, the Baleno will also be available in a CNG powertrain option and as a regular petrol model.

Rivals
The Maruti Baleno rivals the Toyota Glanza, Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz in India. With the update, the Baleno will take the game to the next level.

Expected Launch & Price
The updated Maruti Baleno with a hybrid is expected to launch by the second half of 2026. Moreover, the pricing of the hybrid Baleno could range between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). At this price point, the Maruti Baleno will be an interesting alternatiave for the ones who are looking to buy an affordable premium car with a good mileage.
